Tale of the Firebird - Concerto for Violin, Fire & Acrobatic Orchestra

Pitch Project Performances

Tale of the Firebird is a Concerto for Violin, Fire & Acrobatic Orchestra, written by composer Chloe Charody specifically for the unique interdisciplinary capabilities of The Freestyle Orchestra.

Following a narrative story, the musical drama is conveyed through a series of nine scenes - live classical music, contemporary circus, and choreography are seamlessly incorporated with each musician playing a character, combining their instrumental work with movement, physical theatre and contemporary circus disciplines. Suitable for all ages, the whimsical tale traces the legend of the Phoenix, a mythical creature with the ability to be reborn through flame. Looking deeper, the production subtly underpins pertinent global themes, telling a story of resistance, death and renewal, offering hope and igniting light in the darkest moments of life.
