Amy Cassello is the Artistic Director of the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), the oldest performing arts center in the United States and a major cultural institution in New York City.

Amy began her career in arts administration at the age of 11, organizing neighborhood talent shows for charity. Her professional journey has spanned politics and the arts—working as a political organizer, fundraiser, and speechwriter—before fully committing to the performing arts sector.

She has held key roles in dance management, working with acclaimed artists and companies including Doug Elkins, Urban Bush Women, and nora chipaumire. In 2012, she joined BAM as Associate Producer for the Next Wave Festival, under the leadership of Joe Melillo. Her contributions and vision led to a series of leadership advancements: she was promoted to Producer in 2018, Associate Artistic Director in 2019, Interim Artistic Director in 2023, and officially became Artistic Director in 2024.

Amy continues to shape BAM’s bold artistic direction, championing contemporary performance and fostering innovation across disciplines.
